Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara’s move to Turkey has been called off, as the player is determined to stay at Anfield this summer

According to top transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara won’t be moving to Turkey amid interest from Super Lig sides Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor this summer.

The Spanish midfielder has recently attracted attention from several Turkish outfits in the latter stages of the transfer window since the Turkish market was open until yesterday. However, it appears highly unlikely that Thiago will make a move, as he remains committed to Liverpool.

Rumours surfaced regarding the 32-year-old receiving formal offers from foreign clubs. However, Romano has now stated that the experienced player wants to stay with the Reds this season.

Since his arrival at Liverpool in 2020 from Bayern Munich, Thiago has become a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s midfield setup. His exceptional passing skills and ball control have added a new dimension to Liverpool’s style of play. Despite facing challenges such as injuries and team inconsistency in the previous season, No. 6’s loyalty to the club remains unwavering.

Thiago, who has been out of action since April due to a hip injury, has been listed in the Red’s Europa League squad and is approaching a comeback to the first-team lineup.

Klopp will be rooting to have him back in time for their upcoming Premier League game against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium and the Europa League campaign, which kicks off with a match against LASK in Austria on Thursday.

Despite facing injury setbacks, the defensive midfielder managed to make 28 appearances in various competitions last season, making key contributions in both the Premier League and the Champions League. Since joining the English giants in 2020, he has participated in 97 matches, establishing himself as one of the league’s premier midfield talents.

With Liverpool facing a demanding schedule in both domestic and European competitions, Thiago’s return to full fitness will provide a significant boost to the squad’s depth and midfield quality. Both Klopp and the club’s management are determined to retain him, understanding the value of his skills and experience on the field.

The Reds now have a relatively untested group of midfielders following the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. While new signings like Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo have the potential to dominate the midfield, they are still adapting to the German manager’s high-pressing system.

This new midfield cohort needs time to adjust, and during this transition period, Liverpool could benefit from an experienced player who can not only deliver exceptional performances but also guide the newcomers. Thiago perfectly fits this role.
