“We have to work on that”- Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gives early Everton warning after Wolves win

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp warns against unnecessary comeback victories ahead of the late October clash against Everton

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes his side should avoid frequent comeback victories, as he expects more stability from his side. The German boss also stated that their reaction to Wolves’ first goal was top-class.

The Reds escaped a nightmare first half at the Molineux as they made a superb comeback courtesy of goals from Cody Gakpo, and Andy Robertson and an own goal from Hugo Bueno helped them seal the victory in the second half.

At one point, tensions were raised since the Wolves’ attacking players were pulling the plug on the Merseyside club, and it was looking as if the score would be even worse after Hwang Hee-chan scored the first for the home side.

Even after Klopp’s men secured an easy win at the end, the manager was not so satisfied by the way his team was grabbing all three points. This season, the Reds have come from behind to grab all three points in the Premier League.

It happened against Bournemouth, Newcastle United, and now Wolves. Although the manager was pleased with their reaction to tense situations, he wanted his side to work on their stability and avoid being placed on the back foot.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Klopp said:

“So we should not have to be in the situation that much is what we want – but it is absolutely all right.  I hope it doesn’t happen all the time – but we have to work on that so it doesn’t happen again because after the next international break we play Everton then, but the reaction was top class.”

The Reds face local rivals Everton in another nail-biting encounter on October 24th, which would be their first game after the next international break. Currently, they are preparing to face LASK in the Europa League group stage away match on Thursday.

Then comes another important but tough Premier League encounter against West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday. With many games to play and new players in the starting XI, it’s quite normal for the team to face challenges in stabilising themselves at this point in the season.

Klopp has signed quality players, but these stars still need time to adapt, and hence, changes in gameplay are there to see. However, the fans expect their club to be a dominant force, much like they were in their recent 2018-19 UCL winning campaign.

Ugly wins are fun at certain times, but they shouldn’t be a routine. That’s what the manager expects his team to work on, as they have been doing pretty well in the initial league games of this new season. It’s a long road to cover and a lot to learn for this newly revitalised squad, which has now added fresh, hungry players to their already talented roster.
