Spanish publication Fichajes report that Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Thiago Alcantara are two main targets for the Saudi Pro League clubs next summer.
The Saudi Pro League took Europe by surprise with stupendous investment to sign prominent players from top leagues. A trend that started with Cristiano Ronaldo has blown out of proportion and they do not seem like stopping.
The Saudi clubs are planning to up the ante next summer as they look to sign Salah. At 31, the Egyptian enters the latter stage of his prime, but he remains Liverpool’s top player.
The Daily Mail reported that Al-Ittihad, a Saudi club, were preparing to offer approximately £200 million for Salah. The Reds remained adamant that their top attacker was not for sale regardless of the price.
However, the situation could change in 2024 if the Saudi Pro League are willing to make a big offer. Salah has an enormous reputation in the Middle East and boasts of a similar reputation worldwide. The Liverpool legend will bring an enormous audience and goodwill to the Saudi Pro League.
The league has also set their sights on Reds midfielder Thiago. The 32-year-old has faced multiple injury lay-offs during his time at Anfield. The Spaniard has still dazzled the Kopites with his skills and elegance on the ball.
Thiago’s contract with Liverpool runs until 2024 (Transfermarkt) and it seems likely that he will leave as a free agent.
Saudi clubs have given lucrative contracts to the players they’ve lured to the Middle East from Europe. The Spaniard will expect the same kind of payday in the twilight of his career.

It will be a daunting task to find someone capable of succeeding one of the best footballers in the world. Whereas, losing Thiago would not be that detrimental as Liverpool have made significant signings to bolster their midfield. It will be a very emotional farewell when the Liverpool duo leave. While both players enjoy great affection, Salah has carved his name among Liverpool’s all-time best.
