Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provides Thiago Alcantara fitness update
It is not good news for Liverpool fans when it comes to midfield superstar Thiago Alcantara.
The talented midfielder has been plagued by injuries recently, and it seems another setback has hit him. Since undergoing surgery for a long-standing hip issue back in May, Thiago hasn’t been able to showcase his skills on the pitch. His last start dates back to February in a Premier League match against Wolves, which ended in a 3-0 defeat for Liverpool.
Although there was hope when Thiago returned to team training in August, fate had other plans. A few weeks later, he encountered yet another problem that delayed his return to competitive action. It’s undoubtedly frustrating for both the player and the club, as they eagerly await his full recovery.
Jurgen Klopp via ECHO provided an update on Thiago’s situation, and unfortunately, it seems he’s no closer to being available for selection. The 32-year-old’s absence has left a void in the midfield, and Liverpool fans are undoubtedly eager to see him back in action.
“It’s just, for him (Thiago) especially, it’s annoying,”
“He’s now had two setbacks in the rehab. Not massive but enough to take him off the pitch again.”
Injury issues for Thiago
But it’s not just Thiago facing injury challenges. Young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, who made his last start in March, is also dealing with fitness setbacks. His absence from the pitch has been prolonged, and Liverpool’s depth in midfield is being put to the test.
While the injury situation is less than ideal, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Cody Gakpo, who had to be substituted during the recent match against Tottenham, is expected to return after the international break. His presence has been vital for the team, and fans will be relieved to see him back in action soon.
In the world of football, injuries are an unfortunate reality. However, Liverpool has a resilient squad and a manager who knows how to navigate such challenges.
