Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville says Liverpool are in the title race only thanks to Jurgen Klopp
We all know the contributions Jurgen Klopp has made to Liverpool Football Club. It won’t be wrong to say that he has almost single-handedly propelled the Reds back to the European superpower they once were.
Following a tough campaign last year, the German made a few tweaks to the Reds’ setup and that has so far yielded positive results. The players are putting in solid performances and the Reds and until their controversial 2-1 loss to Tottenham, were unbeaten across all competitions this season.
Gary Neville, speaking on his podcast feels that the Reds are still not there at their best yet, but the presence of a manager like Jurgen Klopp is pushing them towards a top-four spot after a poor season last term.
“I don’t think Liverpool will quite get there, but they are in the race, there’s no doubt, because of the manager. The manager is absolutely outstanding.”

Neville’s assessment of Klopp’s impact is high praise indeed. He recognises Klopp’s exceptional abilities as a manager and credits him for Liverpool’s competitive resurgence. The former Manchester United player-turned-pundit acknowledges that Liverpool is firmly in the race for a top-four spot, and this is largely due to Klopp’s outstanding managerial prowess.
However, it’s important to note that Klopp is not one to solely rely on his own reputation. He is a manager who consistently champions his players, fostering a strong sense of unity and collective purpose within the team.
Klopp’s leadership extends beyond tactical acumen; he instils belief and confidence in his players, which often leads to exceptional performances on the field. The German’s dedication to Liverpool’s success is unwavering, and he continuously motivates his squad to strive for greatness.
While external assessments like Neville’s praise Klopp’s managerial abilities, Klopp himself would likely argue that it’s the collective effort of both the coaching staff and the players that drives Liverpool’s success.
