“They got relegated”- Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold gives hilarious response to James Maddison trolling

Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander Arnold trolls James Maddison after replay jibe

The VAR controversy surrounding Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Liverpool earlier in the season continues to generate news. PGMOL statements and comments from either manager post the game including that of Jurgen Klopp asking for a replay continue to divide opinions.

James Maddison of Tottenham recently shared a picture from the England camp alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold taking a jibe at him. The picture, with both of them candidly smiling, read, “Still asking for a replay,” which was aimed at the Liverpool vice-captain.

However, Trent recently hit back at him with a cheeky response and in a way, Madders cannot possibly come back from.

Speaking to Channel4Sport, here is what Trent said about Maddison mocking him:

“He was asking me how to put a free kick in the top corner. I just shown him the video when I scored at Leicester last year, and they got relegated.”

Trent‘s comeback was a violation of the highest order. The 25-year-old has quite the reputation for scoring spectacular goals at the King Power Stadium, especially from free-kicks. While Maddison is undoubtedly a skilled free-kick taker in his own right, Trent’s remark added an extra layer of humour to the exchange.

This lighthearted banter between two talented footballers demonstrates the camaraderie and friendly rivalry that exists in the world of professional football. Despite the fierce competition on the pitch, it’s heartwarming to see players sharing a laugh and poking fun at each other, even in the midst of contentious VAR disputes.

As the season unfolds, fans can only hope that this banter on the sidelines translates into thrilling performances on the field.

The ongoing banter between Trent and Maddison adds an extra layer of intrigue to future encounters between Liverpool and Tottenham.
