Liverpool star Ryan Gravenberch reveals the role Jurgen Klopp played in his summer transfer
Ever since joining Liverpool, 21-year-old Dutchman Ryan Gravenberch seems to enjoy life on Merseyside. The player, who moved to Bayern Munich from Ajax two seasons ago had a rough patch at Bavaria before moving to Liverpool.
Slowly settling into Liverpool colours, Ryan will surely get the game-time he deserves at Liverpool. The position the player is best at was overloaded at Bayern with the likes of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. At the Reds though, he can explore his potential to the best of his abilities.
As usual, Jurgen Klopp is very influential when it comes to transfer dealings. The case is no different with Gravenberch, and he talks about what transpired behind the scenes before his eventual move to the L4.
Here is what Gravenberch had to say about Klopp influencing his move to Liverpool via Fabrizio Romano’s Twitter:
“Klopp was key for me to join Liverpool. I spoke to him before and he gave me a good feeling. He said to me: I want you”.
“He gave me his plans and he explained everything, gave me such a good feeling that my decision was the first one”,
In seven appearances for the Reds across all competitions, Gravenberch has a goal and two assists to his name. His versatility in the middle of the park is surely coming in handy big time for the Reds who only have one recognised defensive midfielder in the squad.
Gravenberch’s contribution to the Liverpool squad goes beyond his statistical achievements. His presence in midfield provides the team with added depth and quality, enhancing their ability to control matches and navigate challenges effectively.
As he continues to adapt to life at Liverpool and further embed himself in the team’s style of play, Gravenberch’s role remains set to become even more influential. His growth and development within the squad are key components in the Reds’ quest for success both, in the long and short term.
