Arsenal have entered the race for Liverpool target Andre Trindade
Andre Trindade is a name doing the rounds amongst the Liverpool circles for quite some time now and with good reason but the Reds need to be wary of interest in him from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder was instrumental in Fluminense winning their first-ever Copa Libertadores. It almost looked like a foregone conclusion that he would move to Anfield in January and play for Liverpool.
However, in football, transfers don’t come that easy and neither will this one. Arsenal have entered the race to sign Andre Trindade and they are ready to make a huge ploy – offload two of their existing players to make funds to sign the Brazilian, according to Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Liverpool let Fabinho and Henderson leave in the summer and were left scrambling, looking to sign a defensive midfielder to fill the void. Wataru Endo was signed but he was and is still expected to only be a rotational option.
The very impressive Stefan Bajcectic started the campaign injured and is yet to make a mark and one fully expects him to get a lot of game time once he is fully recovered. All this has meant that Alexis Mac Allister has been forced to play as the functional six in Klopp’s team.
With his no-nonsense approach, Andre might just be the best option there is to free up Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai and let them work their magic further up the pitch knowing that they are well covered at the back.
At 22 though, Andre is still very young in his career and for a few players, the Premier League poses its own set of challenges. If he takes some time to adapt, we must be patient and wait for Jurgen Klopp to integrate him into the team.
There is so much to like about Andre. However, with Arsenal hovering, it would be very difficult for us to convince him to come to Anfield. One thing that works in our favour is that we might be able to offer him more game time right away than the Gunners can.
