Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk backs Andy Robertson to bounce back from his shoulder injury very soon

International breaks always have a very funny way of taking away one of our players from us with an injury and the recently concluded one made sure that Liverpool will miss the services of Andy Robertson for a significant period of time.

The Scotland international suffered a shoulder injury as he dislocated it and is now facing a spell on the sidelines. Considering how crucial he is to the Reds, this is a body blow that we are now trying to mitigate.

Thankfully for us, we have Kostas Tsimikas to call upon. The Greece international is an absolute engine down the left flank and actually deserves to be more than just a backup. He will get a deserved run of games for the next few months.

Thanks to Tsmikas, we might not miss Andy, the player so much as we would miss Andy, the leader. Despite not wearing the armband, the Scottish superstar is a true leader on the pitch and this is one attribute of his that we will really miss.

Speaking about the situation to a number of journalists, including the ECHO’s Paul Gorst, Virgil van Dijk was absolutely gutted for his teammate but expects him to recover from the issue soon

I spoke to him when it happened. I’m gutted for him.

“It’s not nice to have an injury that is bad, the shoulder is hard work, we’ve seen it with Mo, there’s so much work to go through but we are here to support him all the way through and he will be fine. Tough weeks ahead of him”

Mohamed Salah went through something similar when he was on the receiving end of THAT TACKLE from Sergio Ramos in the Champions League final in 2018. Van Dijk used this example to explain how difficult it is to recover from such an issue.

One thing we know about Andy Robertson though is that he is very determined and never gives up. He will take this obstacle in his stride and will strive to return stronger and make a huge impact on the club once he returns.

All we want now is for Robbo to return well from his injury and without any complications. We must not rush him back at any cost. We will not need to, thanks to Tsimikas and let’s wait for the Scotland star to come back really soon.
