Liverpool face blow in pursuit of Real Madrid target playing in Germany

Liverpool have been handed a major blow in their pursuit of Jamal Musiala

Jamal Musiala continues to see his star soar at Bayern Munich, earning him glances from Liverpool and other clubs from across Europe.

The German international is one of the best young players on the continent and continues to star for both club and country. He also found the net last night against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League, helping Bayern strengthen their hold at the top of Group A.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Musiala can also do a job on the left wing. A solid passer with an eye for goal, he is an explosive player who is in tune with the demands of the modern game.

According to Sky Sports Germany via Liverpool Echo, the Reds are seeking a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah and have earmarked Musiala as an option. However, that road won’t be easy with the player showing little signs of wanting to move to Anfield.

The 20-year-old is currently happy at the Allianz Arena but has not dismissed the idea of a change of scenery in the future. However, even here, it is Real Madrid and Manchester City who hold the edge. He is said to prefer either club’s ambition and style of play as factors in the decision.

While Liverpool will need to replace Salah sooner or later, it is debatable if Musiala is the man for the job. The German is certainly a world-class talent brimming with much potential but has a different skill set to Salah and does not on paper sound like a direct replacement. Unless Jurgen Klopp is looking at new tactics, we should be going for an out-and-out winger for the job.

While it is always disappointing to miss out on top targets, Liverpool have dealt with rejection well in the past. Real Madrid beat us to Jude Bellingham but few can have complaints about us opting to bring in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai instead.

The recruitment team have proven their worth inr recent years and it is time we retain our faith in them. The Reds are rebuilding a top side and regardless of whether Musiala comes in or not, we should go ahead full steam.

Musiala is one of the finest players at Bayern and is already at a stream that can compete for top honours. Liverpool have both ambition and history and will be once again among the sides vying for top honours soon. Moving elsewhere is as much Musiala’s loss as ours.
