Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reveals that Darwin Nunez is ready for the UEL clash against Toulouse

Given his amazing form this season, one would have expected to see Darwin Nunez lead the line for Liverpool against Everton in our clash last weekend. However, it was Diogo Jota who started the game, alongside Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz on the right and left respectively. The Portuguese himself had a great game and played out the entire 90.

Darwin also made a real impact off the bench and created the Reds’ second goal against the Toffees. However, the questions over him not starting the game still remain. Nevertheless, speaking in his pre-match presser, manager Jurgen Klopp took time to talk about the former Benfica man and how impressive he has been this season.

What Nunez gives the Reds is an explosive direct option. Just like we saw in the Everton game, it seemed like the situation when he came on was tailor-made for someone like him. Exploiting the tired backline is something that he could really excel at. However, that does not mean he remains limited to seeing himself as a bench option. If we can have a fierce option like him starting games, we could potentially get in goals much earlier and that is a win-win situation for Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool star Darwin Nunez has been in magnificent form this season.

In 11 appearances for the Reds across all competitions this season, he has four goals and four assists to his name. In fact, it is astonishing to know that Darwin played through the game against Sean Dyche’s men through a cramp and that is one of the reasons he sat out initially. However, the manager provided some relief on that front ahead of our Europa League clash against Toulouse.

“You could see it was intense for him even with 20-odd minutes, I don’t know how long. It was the right decision and it is always tough for the boys to have these kinds of travels before games but he is fine now and he is ready for this game, the next game I would say. That is good. I think he is really happy at the moment as we are really happy with him.”
