We have seen ourselves linked with the likes of Levi Colwill among others to play for Liverpool in that centre-back and left-back role. However, a major chunk of fans seem to oversee our academy which has produced the likes of Jarell Quansah and Luke Chambers in recent years who could prove to be big names for Liverpool in the coming years.

Chambers made his first start for the senior team recently when he took the field for the Reds against Toulouse in the UEFA Europa League. Andy Robertson’s injury meant that Kostas Tsimikas could start against the French club. However, manager Jurgen Klopp took a bold decision to play Chambers. One that eventually paid off with the defender putting in a solid shift before coming off in the 67th minute for Quansah.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Kilmarnock FC and that was surely helpful in developing him as a player. In fact, there were multiple avenues for a temporary exit from the club this summer as well. However, Klopp wanted to retain the player and now, when we think in hindsight keeping in mind Robbo’s injury, that decision could prove to be a masterstroke in the coming weeks.

“He had a really good year last year, in Scotland. There was a lot of interest there in the summer but I didn’t blink for a second then I thought I can’t let him go.”
