Saudi club Al-Qadsiah sack former Liverpool man Robbie Fowler as manager
The footballing world is no stranger to managerial comings and goings, but sometimes, decisions made by clubs can leave fans scratching their heads. Such is the case with the recent departure of Robbie Fowler from Saudi Arabian second-tier club Al Qadsiah according to ESPN. Just four months after his appointment, the former Liverpool striker found himself out of a job, leaving many to wonder what went wrong.
Fowler, at 48 years old, took the reins at Al Qadsiah in June with high hopes and expectations. The Saudi club was sitting second in the Saudi First Division League, just one point behind leaders Al Orobah after eight matches.
Under Fowler’s guidance, Al Qadsiah had enjoyed a positive start to the season, winning six and drawing two of their opening eight league games. This put them in a strong position to challenge for promotion and compete at the highest level of Saudi football.
What makes this parting of ways particularly strange is the club’s recent performance and Fowler’s success during his brief tenure. Of the nine games he managed, Al Qadsiah lost only one, winning six and drawing two. The team’s last result under his guidance was a convincing 2-0 victory over Al-Khoolood.
His surprising dismissal occurs just days before a crucial top-of-the-table showdown against Al Orobah in the Saudi First Division League, one tier below the Saudi Pro League.
Despite this strong record and promising trajectory, Fowler‘s time with Al Qadsiah came to an abrupt end. It’s a decision that is strange, to say the least.

Fowler’s move to Saudi Arabia marked his fourth managerial role, following stints with Muangthong United, Brisbane Roar, and East Bengal. This opportunity in the Middle East ended his two-year hiatus from coaching.
