Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wishes that Nottingham Forest’s forward Divock Origi will travel to Anfield on Sunday. The Reds face Forest for the Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday.
Origi is a cult hero at Anfield due to his numerous notably crucial goals in Liverpool’s history under Klopp. The 28-year-old scored important late goals which include two crucial goals in the memorable comeback win against Barcelona. The Belgium international also scored special winners against Everton and in the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Liverpool boss favoured Origi both as a player and a person and used him as a “super-sub”. The 28-year-old never disappointed the German in his ability to make an impact and pull the game in Liverpool’s favour.
Klopp talked to the media (h/t BBC) about Origi ahead of the Premier League clash against the Tricky Trees. He said:
“Not for the game but for the occasion that Divock Origi will be in the squad. I hope he’s fit so the people can give him a little hello, he would deserve that definitely.”
Liverpool signed Origi from Lille in the summer of 2014, loaning him back to the French club for a year. Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was in charge of the Merseyside giants during the season. The youngster had his ups and downs before developing into a clutch difference-maker under Jurgen Klopp.
The 28-year-old featured in 175 games for the Reds while scoring 41 goals and providing 18 assists in those games. Origi left Liverpool as a free agent after his contract expired in the summer of 2022.

Origi will certainly get a warm reception from the Kop if he is indeed in the Forest’s squad on Sunday. The 28-year-old is a cult hero and deeply adored by the Liverpool fans for his contributions to the recent success. We hope that Origi will have a successful career with Forest and that their fans can cherish him equally.
