Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Mohamed Salah is incomparable to other players in their 30s
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists that there is no one in Mohamed Salah’s age group, capable of performing like him. Klopp has changed the style of play to accommodate new players in his “Liverpool 2.0” project which involves Salah.
The 31-year-old has successfully adapted to the new role and has performed at the renowned level. The Egypt captain is the only remaining forward left from the famed trinity that included Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Klopp revamped the Liverpool midfield during the summer transfer window after reshaping the attacking department in the previous transfer windows.
Klopp spoke to reporters (h/t BBC) about Salah’s new role at Liverpool before Sunday’s game against Nottingham Forest. He said:
“The young Mo was a super fast player. From the first day he had to do different things, he adapted extremely well. He is smart enough to adapt to all these different things. It is a massive development since he arrived, but he was in all phases world class. He understands the spaces much better, he knows how players react on him and if he cannot score he can still be a threat for us. That is really super important. I cannot compare Mo to other 30-odd-year-old players because I don’t think biologically he is.”
The Reds signed Salah from Serie A side AS Roman on the summer of 2017 for an initial £36.5m. The Egyptian has appeared in 317 games for Liverpool while contributing 195 goals and 83 assists.
The 31-year-old has already cemented his legacy at Anfield as one of the best players ever to play for Liverpool. Many fans and football experts close to the Reds argue that he is the best player in the club’s history.
Salah has seen a slow decline in his pace which is the forward’s biggest asset. However, the Egyptian is still in a peak physical condition and has adapted his game accordingly. The 31-year-old is still the most clinical finisher at the club right now and continues to show hunger for goals.

During the summer transfer window, clubs linked the Egypt captain to a move to the Saudi Pro League. Nevertheless, Salah remains an untouchable asset under Klopp and he has a lot of mileage still left at the top-most level.

The Liverpool’s boss decision to tinker with the style to mutually benefit both Salah and the club is simply incredible. Klopp has challenged the might of financially dominating Manchester City with his limited resources before. We think that the German has once again found a road to success with Salah at the helm.
