Diogo Jota opens up on transformational new weapon in Liverpool arsenal

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota reveals that multiple outlets for goals have turned the team unpredictable to deal with

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota explained that new midfielders and different styles of play have helped the team score more goals. The 26-year-old is content with his goal-scoring form and lauded the squad’s competitiveness, and players with different styles to offer.

The Reds struggled to find form and balance last season as many long-serving players aged and regressed. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp used the summer transfer window to completely revamp the midfield to help the brand-new attack.

The Reds signed the Portuguese international while Anfield marvelled at one of the best-attacking trinities. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah developed a formidable partnership that led the Reds to multiple major honours. However, Jota made an immediate impact with his abilities and clinical finishing to earn an important place in the squad.

Jota told the media (h/t Liverpool Echo) that Liverpool benefits from having multiple goal scorers in the team. He said:

“Having people that can score goals is helpful because at the end that is the target of the game. We have a lot and particularly this season we have midfielders also scoring and it is important because it gives us the chance to create and score from every part of the pitch”

The Reds have been in fantastic form this season and have looked more balanced compared to last season. Klopp calls his new squad “Liverpool 2.0” and his new team has entertained the Kop with different tactics and style.

Liverpool have scored 32 goals out of 13 matches in all competitions this season. The Reds’ forward line has been prolific and scored 25 of those 32 goals. Additionally, new midfielders Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo have pitched in with crucial goals.

Klopp has used his squad according to the tactical requirements against different types of opposition. Furthermore, the German’s high counter-pressing philosophy remains a pivotal part of the team and requires rotation to keep players fit.
