If he feels right, he will be will us”- Jurgen Klopp drops Luis Diaz update before Liverpool vs Luton Town

Liverpool manager provides an update on Luis Diaz ahead of trip to Luton

In very unfortunate circumstances, the parents of Liverpool winger Luis Diaz were kidnapped by Colombia’s National Liberation Army, also known as the ELN. While his mother was rescued safely, the whereabouts of his father are still unknown and are understandably a reason for anxiety for everyone at the club.

While his playing or not at the moment should remain far away from our immediate concerns given the growing uncertainty over the conditions of Lucho’s father, manager Jurgen Klopp provided an update on the 23-year-old’s situation and whether or not he could play against Luton Town away from home, on Sunday.

Lucho returned to first-team training on Wednesday and from that point of view, he remains in contention to play this weekend against Rob Edwards’ side.

Liverpool manager provides an update on Luis Diaz ahead of the trip to Luton.

The latest update from Sky Sports claims that the Colombian authorities are in negotiations with the ELN at the moment over the release of Diaz’s father. Speaking to the press in his pre-match press conference (h/t Sky Sports), here is what Klopp had to say about the situation surrounding Diaz:

“If he feels right, he will train with us. When he’s with the boys he’s fine but you can tell he hasn’t slept a lot. We will wait to see how he is and go from there.”

“The news – I didn’t personally get from Colombia, I always get it forwarded – but everything that gives us a bit of hope is good. We are waiting for really good news.”

Klopp’s words reflect a manager who understands the human aspect of his players’ lives. While football is a central part of their existence, it’s not the only thing that defines them. Diaz’s mental and emotional well-being takes precedence, and Klopp’s compassionate approach exemplifies the values that Liverpool Football Club holds dear.

The situation is undeniably challenging and filled with uncertainty. Until the situation eases, his club, manager, and fans offer their unwavering support and hope for the best possible outcome for him and his family.

You’ll never walk alone, Lucho!
