“It was not so important”- Diogo Jota on his goal for Liverpool vs Brentford

Liverpool star Diogo Jota is keen to continue from where he left off after the international break

Scoring goals is the lifeblood of football, and for forwards like Diogo Jota, finding the back of the net holds a special place in their hearts. Jota recently notched a goal in a convincing 3-0 victory for Liverpool over Brentford. While the context of the goal may not have been as crucial, every goal remains cherished by goal scorers.

Jota expressed his satisfaction at getting on the scoresheet, even though the timing of his goal may have seemed less significant as the Reds were already comfortably ahead by 2-0.

His words shed light on the mindset of a striker – their insatiable desire to score goals and their ability to impact the game, irrespective of the scoreline.

Diogo Jota scored the third of three Liverpool goals against Brentford in a clean-sheet victory.

Here is what Jota had to say via the club’s official website:

“I’m always happy to score and today it was not so important because we were already 2-0 up [but] it’s always great to be on the scoresheet and settle the game. After the break we’ll be back again.”

Jota’s goal against Brentford, although not the game’s decisive moment, contributed to the broader narrative of Liverpool’s attacking prowess. It showcased the team’s depth and the ability of its forwards to make a difference in any match.

Better than Figo, don’t ya know

For a player like Jota, who experienced a goal drought last year, consistently finding the back of the net is vital. It’s a testament to his resilience and determination to maintain his goal-scoring form. He has eight goals from 16

appearances across all competitions this season, and that is a testament to his positive form in front of goal.

In football, there’s a popular saying that “goals win games.” The importance of scoring certainly cannot be overstated. It’s not just about securing the victory in a particular match; it’s about building confidence and momentum for the team as a whole.

Liverpool are benefitting greatly from the positive form of Diogo Jota.

For Liverpool, having a multitude of goal-scoring options is a significant asset. The positive form of forwards such as Jota, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez among others surely makes the team even more formidable.
