Alphonso Davies adamant on Real Madrid move amid Liverpool interest
Bayern Munich’s dynamic left-back Alphonso Davies sees himself linked with a move to Liverpool. However, he has his sights set on a move to the iconic white jersey of Real Madrid. Despite attracting interest from Premier League heavyweights such as Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City, the Canadian sensation seems determined to don the colours of Los Blancos.
Davies sits poised to reject offers from top-tier English clubs in favour of a move to Real Madrid. The left-back has garnered a reputation as one of the world’s best in his position, showcasing his prowess and versatility on the pitch.
The interest from Liverpool, among others, adds an intriguing layer to the transfer saga. However, considering Liverpool’s current left-back situation with the formidable Andy Robertson leading the charge and the capable Kostas Tsimikas in the ranks, the need for immediate reinforcements in that position seems minimal.
According to reports from 90min via liverpool.com, Davies, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires in the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt), wants to move to Spain and explore the opportunity of playing for UEFA Champions League royalty that is Real Madrid.
Could Davies move to Liverpool?
However, as earlier mentioned, Liverpool’s situation when it comes to left-back is more than just sorted, compared to a few other positions. Robbo, despite a recent injury setback, continues to display his enduring quality and shows no signs of slowing down in the near future. While Kostas has been a bit rough in a few of the games recently, his most recent performance against Brentford is proof of the fact that he can deliver when it matters most.
Having said that, for Jurgen Klopp, the prospect of having a player of Davies’ calibre is undoubtedly appealing. The Canadian’s speed, technical ability, and defensive acumen make him a valuable asset for any top-tier squad. While the left-back position may not be an immediate concern for the Reds, the dynamics of football can change swiftly, and having depth in such a key area could provide added tactical flexibility for Klopp.
Real Madrid’s reported plan to allocate their summer budget to secure both Kylian Mbappe [where have we seen this] and Davies reflects the club’s ambition to bolster its ranks with world-class talent. Landing Davies would indeed be a tremendous coup for the Spanish giants, adding another dimension to their squad.
