Romano gives update on Saudi Pro League’s stance on signing Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s star forward, has been a subject of intense transfer speculation, particularly concerning interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

Salah, who has been with Liverpool since his transfer from Roma in 2017, has cemented himself as a club legend. His performances on the field have been nothing short of spectacular, contributing significantly to Liverpool’s successes over the years.

In the current season alone, Salah has continued his fine form, netting ten goals in 13 Premier League matches, indicating his critical role in the team’s performance.

The interest from the Saudi Pro League in Salah is not new. During the summer, there were attempts to sign him, and these have continued into the lead-up to the January transfer window.

Clubs like Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal have shown keen interest in Salah, with the former having a bid rejected but expected to return with an offer in 2024. Salah’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire in 2025, adding another layer of intrigue to the situation.

Fabrizio Romano, a well-known Italian journalist, has provided updates to Caught Offside on this situation, shedding light on the intentions of the Saudi clubs and Liverpool’s stance. Romano, speaking on the Debrief Podcast and his Here We Go podcast, explained that the expectation is that Saudi clubs will prioritize Salah as one of their key targets in the near future.

However, he emphasized that Liverpool’s position remains unchanged – they have no intention of letting Salah leave, at least not in the upcoming January transfer window. Liverpool’s firm stance suggests their desire to hold onto one of their most influential players, despite the potentially lucrative offers from abroad.

From a Liverpool perspective, the potential departure of Salah would be a significant loss, given his enormous contribution to the team’s success. While the prospect of a lucrative transfer deal might be appealing, especially considering that Salah has already given his peak years to Liverpool, the club’s priority appears to be maintaining its competitive edge by retaining key players like Salah.
