Liverpool star Mohamed Salah reveals Kevin de Bruyne as his ‘dream’ PL team-mate
Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah has lifted the curtain on his dream teammate, and to the surprise of many, it’s not a fellow Red but rather a Manchester City star in Kevin De Bruyne.
The Egyptian forward revealed that his ultimate pick for a dream teammate in the current football landscape is none other than Kevin De Bruyne.
Salah’s choice sparked intrigue, considering the array of talent in Liverpool’s revamped midfield following the departure of stalwarts like Jordan Henderson, James Milner, and Fabinho. Jurgen Klopp orchestrated a major rebuild, bringing in new faces such as Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo. However, Salah’s preference reflects a recognition of the unique skills possessed by the Belgian maestro.
Here is what Mo told Sky Sports:
“Messi or Ronaldo, but if I pick one in the Premier League then I’d choose Kevin. He has vision, I’m sure he can find me anywhere with the ball so I would say Messi, Ronaldo and then Kevin.”
Interestingly, Salah’s and De Bruyne’s career trajectories could have overlapped and it was very close to actually transpiring. They could have played together for the Blues but De Bruyne moved to Wolfsburg five days before Mo signed his contract as a Chelsea player.
Coming back to Salah’s pick, his acknowledgement of De Bruyne’s exceptional vision and playmaking ability emphasizes the mutual respect that transcends club rivalries. This revelation adds a nuanced perspective to the often-heated competition between Liverpool and Manchester City, showcasing the camaraderie that exists even among the league’s top players.
In fact, De Bruyne is very good friends with Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk as well. The players at the top level value individual brilliance a lot, and after the 90 minutes on the pitch, respect is something that remains constant.
