Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp asserts that his team takes every competition seriously after their Europa League victory against LASK
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp declared that the team approaches every competition they participate in with seriousness. The Reds qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League after a 4-0 victory against LASK on Thursday night.
Only Mohamed Salah and Kostas Tsimikas retained their position from the team that played against Manchester City on Saturday. Klopp made nine changes to the starting eleven for the Europa League game with Salah captaining for the evening.
Liverpool took the lead within the first 15 minutes of the game with goals from Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo. The Reds finished the game in the second half with a goal from Salah and Gakpo.
Youngsters like Luke Chambers and Conor Bradley played a cameo in the victory against LASK. Whereas, Jarrell Quansah played the whole game, allowing Klopp to rest the Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.
Klopp told reporters during the post-match conference (h/t Liverpool FC’s official site) that every competition is important to the club. He said:
“When we play the competition it’s the most important competition on the planet. Easy as that. But now we play the Premier League on Sunday and so that is then the most important competition, definitely. We want to go as far as somehow possible [in the Europa League].”
Liverpool have been competitive in every competition they have participated in, using the depth in the squad to their advantage. Klopp has used the Reds’ youth players according to the opposition they have faced so far this season.
The Reds secured a double during the 2021-22 season by winning the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup that season. Liverpool lost the Premier League title by one point while losing the Champions League Final 1-0 against Real Madrid.

Klopp has revamped the squad during the summer by selling the aged midfield and replacing them with fresh talents. However, the Reds have not lost the mentality and determination to compete for every trophy under the German maestro.
