Liverpool make decision on 21-year-old midfielder who has played just 7% of the available minutes this season

Liverpool open talks to end Fabio Carvalho loan spell at RB Leipzig

The very reason he saw himself sent out on loan is now proving to be a problem for Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho. A lack of minutes in his debut season at Anfield after a move from Fulham saw him make a temporary shift to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. With Dominik Szoboszlai coming in this way, there remained hope that Fabio could earn some decent minutes in Germany.

However, Leipzig also roped in PSG star Xavi Simons on loan for the season, leaving Carvalho playing second fiddle to the Dutchman. The 21-year-old has a lot of talent to sit on the bench. He was a big part of Fulham making it back to the Premier League last year.

Liverpool are not happy with his situation at Leipzig and have opened talks with the club to bring him back in January. That is as per Fabrizio Romano via X (formerly Twitter). With only 7% of the available game-time, it is safe to assume that even Carvalho might not enjoy this situation.

One highlight from last season for Carvalho at Liverpool is the injury-time winner against Newcastle United from point-blank range. That goal erupted Anfield and was one of the club’s best moments last season.

Carvalho back to Liverpool?

As discussions unfold between Liverpool and Leipzig, the resolution will significantly impact Carvalho’s immediate future. A return to Anfield could offer him a fresh start and a chance to contribute to Liverpool’s campaign.

For a player of his calibre, minutes on the pitch are crucial, and Liverpool seem keen on ensuring that Carvalho gets the platform he deserves to showcase his talent and make an impact.

The coming weeks will reveal how this story unfolds and whether Carvalho finds himself back in the familiar red of Liverpool.
