Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool-linked Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has agreed a new contract with a release clause
Fabrizio Romano verified that Liverpool-linked Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has agreed to a new contract with a release clause. The 24-year-old was pivotal in ending Napoli’s 33-year Serie A title wait last season.
Osimhen had a prolific season for Napoli, ending the season as the leading goal scorer in the Serie A. Standing at 1.86 metres, the Nigerian international is a physical presence in the frontline.
The 24-year-old can beat any defender in Europe in a physical ground duel or aerially, having good strength and balance. Osimhen is good at link-up plays with his teammates as well as holding onto the ball if required.
The Nigerian does a lot of hard work like taking defenders with his runs to create space for his teammates. Osimhen has the pace and movement to constantly threaten the backline, constantly looking to exploit spaces. The 24-year-old’s best attribute is his ability to beat the offside trap while making well-timed run off the defender’s shoulders.
Romano reported that Osimhen has agreed upon a new contract with Napoli with a €130m release clause. The Mirror reported that Liverpool are ready to swoop for Osimhen despite the healthy attacking options at the club.
Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League table with Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City close by. The Reds’ attacking lineup has enjoyed a good run of form, creating many chances and contributing to each other.

However, many pundits and fans have criticized the attackers for being too wasteful in front of goals with complacent finishing. Liverpool dropped points against clubs like Luton Town and Brighton despite having plenty of big goalscoring chances.

The Reds have played Darwin Nunez as the lead striker apart from Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota. The trio are versatile enough to play in other positions and contribute a lot in overall gameplay for Liverpool.
Nevertheless, a player like Osimhen with a predatory mindset can be a big game-changer among the other attackers. The 24-year-old beat Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah to the Africa Player of the Year award, showing that €130m price is justified for a player of his talent.
