Mohamed Salah’s agent provides a vague update on the player’s future with Liverpool

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s star winger, is at the centre of speculation regarding his future with the club. His agent and lawyer, Ramy Abbas Issa, recently responded cryptically to a months-old post by Santi Aouna, fueling further speculation. Aouna’s post, which suggested Salah’s desire to leave Liverpool, dates back ten months. Currently, Salah is leading the Egyptian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations, missing the next month and a bit for Liverpool.

Issa’s reply to the tweet sparks more questions rather than serving as an answer. The cryptic reply read:

“You just don’t know.”

Given Salah’s contract with Liverpool, which extends until 2025, a departure from Anfield seems unlikely soon. However, Issa’s comment could also allude to the strong interest from the Saudi Pro League in acquiring Salah.

Does this mean that Salah has chosen to remain in Liverpool?

Al Ittihad from the Saudi Pro League has twice failed in their bids to sign the Egyptian international. Despite claims of Salah’s move to Saudi Arabia being a ‘done deal,’ Issa’s recent tweet has reignited hopes for an extended contract with Liverpool.

A potential transfer of Salah to Saudi Arabia could be monumental, offering significant financial and cultural impact. The Gulf League appears willing to exceed previous high-profile transfer valuations, like those of Cristiano Ronaldo, especially reflecting Salah’s strong religious and cultural significance.

If Abbas’ tweet is serious, it might suggest that Liverpool, led by Jürgen Klopp, will retain their top scorer. Salah, alongside Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, and Cody Gakpo, has been crucial in maintaining Liverpool’s formidable attack and leading position in the Premier League. The trio have effectively stepped up in Salah’s absence, filling the gap left by his departure for national duties.
