Liverpool star in contention to face Fulham as he continues to disprove doubters

Liverpool star Curtis Jones gives positive injury update ahead of the crucial second-leg with Fulham in the Carabao Cup

Liverpool midfield Curtis Jones delivered a positive injury update ahead of the second-leg clash with Fulham in the Carabao Cup. Curtis detected discomfort in his left hamstring during the 0-4 away victory against Bournemouth and subsequently received a substitution in the 83rd minute.

The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp made the change as a precaution considering the injury crisis his squad is facing. Injuries and international duties have sidelined numerous players, putting the squad’s depth to the test during the congested fixture period.

Klopp used the summer transfer window to revamp the midfield after a poor 2022-23 season campaign. He let go of several long-serving players who crossed their peak years while signing numerous new talents.

Many expected Curtis to play a squad role at best, acting as a rotational player during the current campaign. However, the 22-year-old has consistently played a pivotal role for the Reds this season, evolving his immense talents with maturity.

Jones has made 22 appearances in all competitions, contributing four goals and three assists so far this season. As Liverpool’s squad number diminished due to injury, Jones grew in his role as an important starter in the midfield.

Jones confirmed to Liverpoolfc.com that he is ready to play in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals against Fulham. He said:

“I’m good. I just had a little bit of pain in my hamstring, which I’d had for a couple of days. I had a scan on my leg and the muscle is fine. There was a little bit of tendon pain, so it’ll be there for a little while. But I’m fine and ready to go.”

The Reds have a one-goal advantage going into the Craven Cottage and they cannot take the second leg lightly. Klopp has instilled a strong cohesiveness and winning mentality, and the Carabao Cup can be a major boost.

Jones has played a crucial role in dominating and recycling the possession, apart from his other inputs in both defence and attack. The 22-year-old has solidified his place in Klopp’s senior team and has a long career ahead to keep evolving further.
