Liverpool set to offer Trent Alexander-Arnold new contract

Liverpool remain set to embark on new contract talks with Trent Alexander-Arnold as they look to secure the long-term commitment of the highly talented right-back. Discussions shall take place ahead of the summer transfer window, with the club expressing confidence that Alexander-Arnold will agree to a new deal.

Football Insider via ECHO state that negotiations remain “scheduled” with the 25-year-old and that the club are “very confident” of reaching an agreement. The initial talks, which occurred last autumn, did not result in a finalized agreement, but Liverpool remain eager to revisit the negotiation table.

The terms under discussion involve a significant wage increase, placing Trent among the club’s top earners. The proposed salary shall exceed £200,000 per week, reflecting the importance and value the player holds within the team.

TAA extension on the way?

The vice-captain’s current contract with Liverpool stands set to expire in 2025 (Transfermarkt), but the club is keen to secure his services for an extended period. Recognized for his exceptional skills, vision, and contributions from the right-back position and midfield in the last season and a half, TAA has been a vital component of Liverpool’s success in recent years.

He has two goals and nine assists in 28 appearances across all competitions this season. The decision to initiate contract talks aligns with Liverpool’s broader strategy of retaining key players amid the impending departure of manager Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season. With Klopp set to leave a significant void, the club is focused on maintaining stability within the squad and also securing the futures of crucial assets like Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

As negotiations unfold, the outcome will not only impact Trent’s future but will also send a strong signal about Liverpool’s commitment to building for sustained success. The right-back’s potential contract extension would certainly serve as a statement of intent, underscoring the club’s determination to keep its core players, an academy graduate at that, and continue competing at the highest level.
