Liverpool super-sub makes ‘clinical in moments’ claim following Burnley win

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott praised the diversity in the squad that helped the club grind out results in tough matches

Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott highlighted the unique skills that each squad member provides to grind out results in tough games. The Reds beat Burnley 3-1 in the Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday to retain their place at the top.

Elliott delivered the Man of the Match performance after coming on for vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold during the halftime. The 20-year-old has produced several game-changing performances for the Reds this season, playing a crucial role in their success.

Elliott created the goal that Luis Diaz scored in the 52nd

minute to give the Reds a 2-1 lead. His deflected cross went straight to Diaz and the Colombian finished the move with a close-range header.

Harvey produced another fantastic cross for Darwin Nunez in the 79th minute to take the scoreline to 3-1. He remained a constant threat from the right flank, providing clinical deliveries and using the possession wisely.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Elliott emphasized the diverse skillsets within the squad and their ability to grind results in tough games. He said:

“Yeah, definitely. It has been a tough season and a few games we have had to grind to get three points – and today was one of them. Burnley made it very, very hard, came here with a clear game plan and caused us problems. But, as I said, we found a way to win and were clinical in the moments we needed to be. We could have scored more as well. But it just sums up this team and we’re not going to stop.”

Elliott has shown immense versatility which has helped him acquire a lot of senior team experience despite his young age. He can play as a central midfielder in a three-man midfield, as an attacking midfielder and at his preferred right wing.

The 20-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions this season, contributing with one goal and three assists. He provides something different to the first-choice right-winger Mohamed Salah. While the Egyptian legend’s prolific contribution is second to none, Elliott brings creativity and helps in possessional play.
