Thierry Henry claims to understand the reason behind the decision from Jurgen Klopp to leave Liverpool
CBS Sports pundit Thierry Henry justified the reason that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided for his decision to step back. In January, Klopp announced that he is stepping away from the managerial role after the current season, shocking the world.
The 56-year-old expressed that he is feeling burnt out and lacks the energy to continue as the Reds manager. His early decision gives Liverpool management ample amount of time to find a worthy successor for the next season.
The announcement opened up numerous rumours and conversations about the stressful nature of the job at the topmost level. Liverpool fans have voiced their heartbreak on social media but understand the reason behind Klopp’s decision.
Everyone shares the concern over the physical and mental well-being of the Germans, calling it the main priority. The Kopites consider Klopp as the second coming of the great Bill Shankly, an incredible honour showcasing the legacy he built.
Speaking for CBS Sports (h/t Mirror) as a pundit, Henry backed Klopp for prioritizing his well-being over the strenuous job. He said:
“I understand that it’s very nice for fans and everybody involved, journalists, but do not think only about yourself and thinking that the Premier League will miss Klopp, that Liverpool will miss Klopp. We know that, we know that is true. But he was missing his family, he was missing his own time, he was missing his sanity. So good for him. When I got the news, I was like: ‘Good for you.’”
Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League table and they are challenging for every cup competition. Klopp used the summer transfer window to rebuild the squad once again with the limited resources.
The 56-year-old has continuously challenged cash-rich Premier League rival clubs with shrewd business and the development of players. This season, the Reds have provided opportunities to many talented young Academy players, continuing a healthy and nurturing culture.
