Liverpool injury crisis deepens as first XI star is now set for a spell on the sidelines

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker faces a lengthy period on the sidelines, adding to the injury woes at Anfield

Liverpool legend Alisson Becker sustained a hamstring injury and faces a potentially lengthy period on the sideline. The 31-year-old missed the Premier League game against Burnley due to illness but returned to training before the Brentford fixture.

However, Alisson missed the game against Brentford due to a Hamstring problem with his injury announcement coming on Friday. The Brazil international is a pivotal part of the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp’s senior team and a massive injury setback.

The Reds are currently at the top of the Premier League table, but Manchester City have a game in hand. A win in that game would take Man City ahead and Arsenal are closing in, making it a three-way race.

Liverpool are also taking every cup competition seriously with the massive ambition of doing a quadruple this season. However, the Reds are missing several important senior team players and Alisson’s injury is a massive blow to their aspirations.

The Liverpool Echo reported that Alisson suffered a hamstring injury and requires further checks on the injury. The club has not shared any estimated timeline so far, but fans are hoping for his swift recovery.

Liverpool’s number two goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher made some fantastic saves in the 1-4 away win against Brentford. Despite failing to maintain a clean sheet, Kelleher’s performance showed that he is capable of doing a good job.

The 25-year-old is a regular for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup as they have reached the Finals of that tournament. Furthermore, he played in five out of six Europa League group-stage matches, showing the level of trust Klopp has.

Nevertheless, Alisson’s presence in the goalpost is as crucial as his presence in the squad as one of the leaders. The 31-year-old is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has been a crucial part of Klopp’s team.
