Liverpool want Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi to bolster their defence during the summer transfer window
Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi is a Liverpool target to bolster their defence department during the upcoming summer transfer window. Guehi has been a pivotal part of Palace’s defensive setup since signing for the club from Chelsea in 2021.
The Eagles are heading towards a transition period after the departure of Roy Hodgson as Oliver Glasner succeeded him. Despite the attention from top clubs in recent transfer windows, Guehi remained at Palace to bolster his Euro 2024 chances.
The Englishman broke into the international set-up after proving his ability by playing regularly for Palace. However, he could make a move to a top club after the Euro tournament in the summer.
The 23-year-old has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season, contributing with an assist so far. He has accumulated only two yellow cards despite featuring regularly for the Eagles, showcasing his well-disciplined abilities and maturity.
Standing at 1.82 metres, Guehi is physically well-built and dominant with the strength to go toe-to-toe with any opponent. The 23-year-old applies well-timed tackle and interception techniques to defend his space, keeping a calm head and using game intelligence.
While England’s international team uses a high-pressing game, the Eagles under Hodgson used a more organized and defensive structure. Nevertheless, the England international has shown his immense ability to adapt to both styles of play and deliver consistent performances.
Guehi is a modern-day centre-back with immense ability on the ball to distribute passes from the backline. He has shown good decision-making on the ball and the ability to counter teams that employ high-pressure tactics.

The Telegraph reported that the Reds are planning to target Guehi to bolster their defence department before the next season. However, filling an important position at the club beforehand is essential for any transfer deal.
