Bayer Leverkusen fullback Jeremie Frimpong refuses to rule out joining Liverpool during the upcoming summer transfer window
Bayer Leverkusen attacking fullback Jeremie Frimpong has given Liverpool a massive transfer boost by praising their stature and history. Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is also a firm favourite to succeed Jurgen Klopp after the end of the current season.
Klopp announced his departure in January to give the Reds ample amount of time to find his successor. Alonso is a firm favourite to succeed the German, given his relationship with Liverpool and its fanbase alongside Leverkusen’s success.
The German club is the only team unbeaten this season in Europe, currently at the top of the Bundesliga. Frimpong has played a pivotal role in Xabi’s tactical setup, operating as the right attacking fullback in a 3-4-2-1 formation.
The 23-year-old has been a prolific contributor for Leverkusen, using his dribbling, technique, and pace to be a constant threat. He has made 28 appearances in all competitions, contributing with nine goals and 10 assists this season.
Responding to Ziggo Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo) about the potential of joining Liverpool during the summer transfer window, Frimpong said:
“Liverpool? Great club, with history. That would be great. Who knows what the future will bring.”
Liverpool have vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold and youngster Conor Bradley as the attacking fullback operating on the right side. However, Trent has played more centrally this season and he is slowly transitioning to a role in the central midfield.
Trent has delivered consistent match-winning performances this season when he played centrally and dictated the game. Meanwhile, Bradley has solidified his place in the senior team with impressive performances as a right-back deputy for Trent.
Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen keep going as undefeated with 95 goals scored (!) in 32 games all competitions, one more win today…

The 20-year-old has delivered two match-winning performances against Fulham in the Carabao Cup semi-finals and Chelsea in the Premier League. Nevertheless, Frimpong would be a marquee signing and a strong addition to the Reds squad.
