As reported by Italian publication Gazzeta (h/t ESPN), Liverpool are now in the race to sign Serie A star midfielder, Ederson. The Brazilian midfielder has been in fine form which has helped garner interest from several prominent clubs.
In 30 appearances this season the 24-year-old recorded six goals and one assist. Manchester United are also in the running and will be a thorn in the side of the Reds as they go after Ederson in the summer.
The situation gets a bit tricky as Atlanta’s other star midfielder, Teun Koopmeiners is also wanted by Juventus. The Italian side will surely not want to part with both of their midfielders so Liverpool will have to move quickly.
Ederson has two years left on his contract so Atlanta will expect the Premier League giants to pay a hefty sum for their promising talent. Moreover, selling Rasmus Hojlund last summer means that they are under no pressure to sell their players for a lower price.
At such a young age, the Brazilian midfielder has showcased some excellent command over the midfield. Moreover, he is proficient at playing long balls into the final third which perfectly fits into Liverpool’s style of play.
Moreover, Curtis Jones is susceptible to injuries so signing the 24-year-old will provide an excellent option to whoever succeeds Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. However, Ederson could have a problem with playing second fiddle since he is a star player in Italy.
If Ederson can adjust to the Premier League like his former teammate Rasmus Hojlund has then Liverpool will surely have a gem on their hands if they can put pen to paper.
