Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provides important injury update on Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez amid serious injury crisis
Jurgen Klopp has delivered a concerning report surrounding fitness concerns for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez. The Reds are currently facing a serious injury crisis that is threatening all the hard work they have done this season.
Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League with Manchester City and Arsenal closely behind them. The intense three-way title race leaves no room for excuses as rival clubs are ready to pounce on any opportunity.
Furthermore, the Reds will face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday at the Wembley Stadium. Liverpool have taken each of the cup competitions seriously to pursue their impressive ambition for Quadruple.
However, the growing injury concerns are putting all the hard work in jeopardy as the squad depth diminishes. Until now, Klopp used the squad wisely while also providing opportunities to youngsters as they live up to their potential.
Liverpool have now lost several senior team members to both short and long-term injuries. The Reds beat Brentford 1-4 last Saturday in the Premier League clash which involved several serious injuries.
Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones and Nunez came off during the game at separate times due to injuries. The Reds are already without vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago Alcantara, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alisson Becker and Joel Matip.
Speaking to reporters (h/t Liverpool Echo), Klopp confirmed the injury concern surrounding Salah and explained that he is under observation. He said:
“It is day by day as well with Mo. It is a similar area where he feels it (fatigue) a little bit. We have to see how it develops. It’s nothing crazy, but we have to see.”
Meanwhile, the Liverpool boss hinted at resting Nunez against Luton Town to prioritize his participation in the Carabao Cup final. He said:
“For us, it is game by game who is available and then use them in the best possible way there is no other chance. If [Nunez] was fully fit there is no reason to keep him out and no chance for us. That is it as well.”
