Pep Lijnders reports that Salah, Darwin, and Szoboszlai could be available for Liverpool as they gear up for Carabao Cup final
Pep Lijnders, who is the assistant manager to Liverpool head coach, Jurgen Klopp, has confirmed that Dominik Szoboszlai, Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez could be available for the Carabao Cup final. All three of these players were doubtful for the game which came as a big blow to the Reds’ attacking line who have recently lost Diogo Jota. The Portuguese forward is expected to be out for months.
Lijnders says the club will continue monitoring their fitness over the days leading up to the game. Chelsea have already shown they can hang with the best, as they held reigning champs, Manchester City to a draw last week. Guardiola’s men only got away with a tie due to an 83rd-minute strike from Rodri.
The Reds are about to face a formidable opponent and don’t want to show up with a depleted squad. Winning the Carabao Cup will be the first step towards giving their decade-long gaffer, Jurgen Klopp the farewell that he deserves.
Since the news comes straight from Liverpool, the fans are ecstatic about the possibility of having three of their offensive threats back before Sunday. However, it would serve the Anfield crowd well to temper their expectations.
The Reds have a lot of important games left to play this season and Klopp will most likely avoid taking any unnecessary risks. While there is a chance that we will get to see our three stars back in the lineup, it would be unfair to expect them to start.
