Sad Liverpool newboy keen to send Jurgen Klopp off with a bang

Liverpool star Wataru Endo is “sad” over the impending departure of Jurgen Klopp and aims to win trophies for him

Wataru Endo shared his sadness about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stepping back and aims to give him a deserved farewell. Endo highlighted that Klopp’s impending departure is an added incentive for him and his teammates to win trophies this season.

Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League table and they have successfully progressed in every cup competition. Furthermore, the Reds will face Chelsea next in the Carabao Cup finals at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

However, the squad is currently facing a daunting challenge with numerous senior players facing sidelines due to injuries. Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcantara and Stefen Bajcetic are long-term absentees. Additionally, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez missed the matchday squad against Luton Town due to injury and are under observation.

Klopp announced he is stepping back from the managerial role to give the club time to find a worthy successor. The 56-year-old’s decision shocked the world while people close to Liverpool are still trying to come to terms with it.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Wataru highlighted the emotional incentive to win trophies as a sign of expressing gratitude towards their manager. He said:

“I was sad to hear about that [Klopp departing]. I really enjoy playing for him and playing football the way he plays. It’s disappointing but I really want us to achieve titles for him before he goes. I’ve only played for Jürgen for one season. Others have been here a lot longer so maybe have more emotion, but he has helped me so much.”

Klopp has a strong bond with the Reds fanbase and Liverpool players from the senior team to the Academy. The Reds showed impressive mental resilience against Luton Town by coming from behind to win 4-1 despite the odds.

Liverpool’s injury is threatening all the hard work that the players have put in since the start of the season. From facing the formidable challenge of standing against high-spending rival clubs to suffering poor refereeing decisions, Liverpool have fought brilliantly.
