Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino resorts to cheap tactics before the Carabao Cup final clash against Liverpool
Mauricio Pochettino used the media to build the recurring propaganda against Liverpool before the Carabao Cup final clash with Chelsea. The Chelsea boss resorted to using a false narrative against Liverpool despite the evidence that tells the other story.
Facing Chelsea in the Carabao Cup Final, Liverpool currently grapples with numerous injuries. Furthermore, they have faced poor officiating throughout this season that has cost them many points in the Premier League.
Despite statistics and visual evidence demonstrating poor refereeing decisions, the Reds have faced continuous targeting on social media. Rival fans have long attempted to create a narrative against Liverpool with cheap terms like “LiVARpool” to create an agenda.
ESPN reported early in February that Liverpool have been most affected due to the VAR errors this season. The decisions do not include poor on-field decisions that have riled up the Anfield faithful numerous times this season.
A firm example of those decisions is the two yellow cards that Diogo Jota suffered against Tottenham Hotspur. Such decisions are beyond VAR’s jurisdiction and they have been equally costly for the Reds.
Speaking to the press before the Carabao Cup clash (h/t Guardian), Pochettino provided a baffling narrative about Liverpool. He said:
“It is not pressure for him [Klopp]. Maybe it is for the people who want to celebrate with Liverpool. I think we need to be sure we are going to compete and be fair in every single decision. When we played at Anfield, I think too many decisions. not one key decision was for us. Two penalties were not given. Duels, 50-50s, always for another colour. Always red. I want to be treated in a fair way. Of course we are going to celebrate.”
Pochettino is under severe pressure as Chelsea are currently 10th in the Premier League table right now. Despite spending more than a billion in the transfer market in the last two seasons, Chelsea have struggled to perform.
"The goal by Luiz Diaz was disallowed for offside by the on-field team of match officials. This was a clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention."

Furthermore, Liverpool outclassed the London rivals at Anfield by beating them 4-1 in the Premier League clash on 1st February. Despite the injury ravaging the Reds squad which gives Chelsea a clear advantage, Pochettino is reducing to such cheap tactics.

Pochettino’s words reeks of desperation which is truly unbecoming of a manager of his reputation. We’ll see if his words have a negative impact on the referees during the Carabao Cup Final clash. Nevertheless, the Reds have continued to march forward despite the poor refereeing and they will continue to do so.
