Jurgen Klopp insists that Liverpool have a bright future when he leaves the club at the end of the season. The Reds defeated Chelsea 1-0 in extra time to win the Carabao Cup despite missing numerous senior team players.
Klopp put his faith in the players from Liverpool Academy and they lived up to the expectations of their manager. Under the 56-year-old’s guidance, Jarell Quansah and Connor Bradley established themselves as the senior team players. They followed the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones to play a pivotal role.
Trent, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Ben Doak are the long-term absentees. Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai are under observation, adding to the injury crisis.
The Reds are currently at the top of the Premier League table with Manchester City and Arsenal behind them. They have also successfully progressed in the FA Cup and the Europa League, maintaining their big ambition of a quadruple.
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t The Mirror), Klopp urged that Liverpool have a bright future after he leaves the club. He said:
“We have a really good football team. The future for this football club is bright. Over the years we did it properly. They will be fine, 100 percent. Otherwise, I wouldn’t leave, In the end, everything will be fine. If it wasn’t going to be okay, I wouldn’t be leaving. Liverpool FC is a special club, always was. Not everybody in the outside world has to see it like that, I’m inside and I can tell you, when I come from outside, it is a really special club.”
Klopp used the summer transfer window to successfully revamp the squad and balanced it with the academy talents. The cohesiveness and tactical fluidity within the squad would help Klopp’s successor to transition easily, depending on their philosophical similarities.
Xabi Alonso is currently the firm favourite to succeed Klopp, possessing the same philosophical style of play. Furthermore, he has a strong connection with the Liverpool fanbase which gives him a massive edge over other candidates. Rest assured, Klopp has built a legacy while considering the Reds’ future, paving the way for a culture of success and healthy youth development.
