Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants the club to continue the culture of providing opportunities to the youngsters after he leaves

Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool to continue providing opportunities to the Academy players after he leaves the club. Klopp has built a culture of success balanced with opportunities for the academy youngsters to make their name at Anfield.

Liverpool are currently facing a serious injury crisis that has pushed the limit of their senior team squad. However, Klopp has continued to use the youngsters in important moments while they have lived up to their manager’s faith.

Liverpool played a very inexperienced squad during the Carabao Cup final against the billion-dollar Chelsea side at the Wembley Stadium. The youngsters delivered impressive performances, showcasing formidable mentality and skills to earn the Reds their first trophy of the season.

Klopp deployed a very young team against Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round once again to compensate for the injuries. Bobby Clark, Lewis Koumas and James McConnell started the game alongside the likes of Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah. Quansah and Bradley established themselves as the senior squad member this season only, playing crucial roles for Liverpool.

The Liverpool boss also played Jayden Danns, Kaide Gordon and 16-year-old Trey Nyoni against the Saints. Liverpool won 3-0 with Koumas scoring in the first half and Danns adding two goals in the second half.

Speaking at the post-match press conference (h/t Liverpoolfc.com), Klopp highlighted the importance of giving chances to the youth academy. He said:

“Yes, it’s exceptional but we said a couple of times that the future doesn’t look that bad. Don’t forget it in the moment when the transfer window opens that there are a couple of pretty promising players already here. Don’t close the door for them with 12 signings or whatever”

Klopp has opted to use the youngsters instead of dipping into the January transfer market despite the mounting pressure. Liverpool’s injury crisis threatens all the hard work they have put in the current season while challenging for every trophy.

The Reds are at the top of the Premier League table, closely followed by Manchester City and Arsenal. Furthermore, they are seriously pursuing both the Europa League and the FA Cup to give Klopp an incredible farewell gift.
