Liverpool target Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho

Willian Pacho has had an outstanding year following signing for Eintracht Frankfurt last summer from Royal Antwerp, which in retrospect is turning out to be a bargain deal for them.

The Ecuadorean is turning out to be an influential part of Dino Toppmöller’s side boasting a tally of 24 Bundesliga starts this season complemented by an additional eight in the Europa Conference League.

The 22-year-old made his Ecuador debut last year and has since went on to pick nine caps and becoming an improbable goal-scoring hero for his nation after scoring twice for Ecuador despite not having a single goal to his name in his club career.

According to a report by German football journalist Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are setting their sights to sign the young Bundesliga defender for the summer transfer window. Pacho is subject to interests from Premier League duo of Liverpool and Arsenal while Eintracht Frankfurt have slapped a €60m (£51.2m) asking price on the 22-year-old’s services.

Willian Pacho has penned a five-year deal at Deutsche Bank Park when he signed from Antwerp which gives Frankfurt higher position to make demands in the transfer negotiations, the Ecuadorian has a contract with the club till 2028.

The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Everton also tried to sign Pacho’s services over past year for unsuccessful measures. Although it’s too late for the latter to sign his services, Ange Postecoglou’s side can still make a move for the defender alongside the interests from Liverpool and Arsenal.

Liverpool have found themselves one injury away from having no first-choice defender available at times this season and it would be one of the priorities to find someone who can take the baton forward while maintaining similar qualities. William Pacho fits a profile of a left-footed progressive centre-back who can play with ball at his feet and it’s a type of player that has been highly in demand among Premier League clubs.
