Liverpool are ready to battle Arsenal and Manchester United to secure Ajax defender Jorrel Hato during the summer transfer window
Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are ready to have a three-way battle for the signature of Ajax defender Jorrel Hato. Hato has featured consistently for Ajax this season and even though they have struggled, he showcased his immense talent.
Standing at 1.82 meters, he already possesses well-developed physical attributes and athleticism to excel at the top level. The 18-year-old has the dominant left foot and the versatility to play as a left-back alongside his natural centre-back position.
He has a good pace alongside the physical build which he uses to challenge for ground and aerial duels. Hato has good anticipation and defensive intelligence not overcommit on his tackles while making good decisions to make moves.
The combination of his aggression with good decision-making helps him make strong interceptions while reading the opposition’s play. The Dutch U21 is a typical modern-day centre-back with strong technical abilities and vision to distribute passes from the deep.
He uses his excellent ability to carry the ball forward combined with close control and technical prowess to maintain possession. The 18-year-old is an excellent passer and plays a key role in possessional phases for the Dutch side.
Football Insider (h/t Fichajes) reported that Liverpool are closely monitoring Hato’s progress alongside Arsenal and Man United. Despite his young age, the Dutchman has earned a lot of first-team experience at the club level.

Liverpool currently have captain Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah as their defensive options. Joel Matip is currently out with an injury as his contract runs out at the end of the season.

The Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp will depart from the club at the end of the season. Liverpool would want to have a successor in place before they can transfer decisions which includes Hato. The new manager would decide whether the young Dutchman suits their requirement or not.
