Liverpool have earmarked Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo as a summer transfer target to bolster their right flank

Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo is a transfer target for Liverpool amid concerns over the right flank amid their struggle. The Japanese winger is enjoying a successful season with Sociedad, as the club chases Athletic Club for the fifth position.

Sociedad are currently sixth in the La Liga table which qualifies them for the Europa Conference League qualifiers. They are seven points behind fifth-placed Athletic Club which qualifies them for the next season’s Europa League group stage.

Kubo prefers to play as a right winger for his club, using his unpredictable dribbling skills and close control. The Japan international is dominantly a left-footed player and he uses the right flank to cut inside and shoot.

He is also capable of going down the byline and creating chances for his teammates, constantly looking to challenge opponents. The dazzling winger also possesses the technique and vision which adds an end product to his impressive dribbling skills.

Kubo’s impressive pace and directness are a formidable threat in counter-attacking moments and when the opponents are too compact. Furthermore, the 22-year-old is a hard worker when Sociedad do not have possession, fitting perfectly into the pressing philosophy.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool wants to bolster their right flank by signing Kubo during the summer transfer window. However, the 22-year-old has a preference to continue playing in La Liga with a potential interest from Real Madrid.

The Spanish club values the Japan international at around £60 million, as stated in the report. Kuba has made 35 appearances for Sociedad in all competitions, contributing with four goals and three assists this season.
