Liverpool are eyeing Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson to replace Caomhin Kelleher

Liverpool may be facing significant changes in their goalkeeping department, with Adrian set to depart when his contract expires in June. Caomhin Kelleher, on the other hand, has been gaining attention due to his impressive performances this season.

At just 25 years old, Kelleher has already made a name for himself at Anfield, having joined the club in 2015. His progression through the ranks has culminated in him stepping up to replace the injured Alisson on numerous occasions this season.

Despite interest from other clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Liverpool are likely to value Kelleher highly given his potential and the role he has played in the team. As they prepare for potential departures and arrivals in the goalkeeping department, Liverpool will need to carefully consider their options to ensure they have adequate cover for Alisson moving forward.

Since then, Kelleher’s value has probably increased due to his outstanding performances during the previous two months. Although they could be priced out of a deal, Celtic are also rumored to be interested.

Liverpool are likely not to stand in Kelleher’s way if he chose to move to become No. 1 in his own right somewhere. While the Irishman is certainly an able deputy, he is unlikely to usurp the starting spot from Alisson Becker.

Liverpool prepares themselves to get another backup keeper with recently retaining interest in Sunderland shot-stopper Anthony Patterson, according to the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old has been outstanding in the championship ever since he helped the Black Cats win the League One play-offs two years ago. As a result, he was acknowledged on the global stage following his summertime England U21 cap.

Liverpool do have a number of youngsters that they could call upon to step up. However, it seems that none of those are quite “ready” to make that jump just yet. Whether Patterson will be the new understudy to Alisson remains to be seen.

Kelleher’s exit would mean the Reds would be in the market for a new backup, although he could decide to stick around on Merseyside. But the star keeper should not stay, as his performance in the last two months was a masterclass display.

Several huge clubs have recognized Kelleher and must be ready to take him as their No. 1, and the star keeper should also go and be a No. 1 and grow to achieve greater heights.
