Barcelona is trying to close in on a deal with Liverpool star attacker Luis Diaz, who aims to move amid the Reds’ intention to retain him
According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Barcelona, the La Liga giants, want to boost their attack next season, with their priority objective being the signing of Premier League and Liverpool star forward Luis Diaz.
Blaugrana is currently in the midst of planning for next season, with the goal of strategically and efficiently improving its lineup. With apparent financial constraints, the Catalan club has devised a plan that prioritizes the most immediate demands.
The technical direction of Barcelona considers that the defence does not have any requirement for change, even considering the possibility of a defender leaving the team.
However, according to reports from Sport (h/t Fichajes), Barcelona has their current focus on developing their midfield and winger line, with Luis Diaz as their latest target.
The ambition is to reestablish attacking power after Dembele’s departure, and Díaz is a highly appealing player on the market to the Spanish coach Xavi.
Diaz’s father, Luis Manuel Diaz, has previously commented on a potential move to Barcelona for his son:
“The truth is that I know very little about Barcelona at the moment. It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there.”
“So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him. There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world.”
It is clear that a move to Barcelona would be a dream come true for Luis Diaz. But the Reds seem to have an intention to retain Diaz, putting a hefty price tag on him.
According to Van Strachlen (h/t Daily Sports), Liverpool might want between €120 and €140 million for their winger. Given his prominent position at Liverpool and the fact that his contract continues until 2027, this amount is not surprising.
With this hefty price tag on the star winger, Barcelona would certainly struggle to make an official move as per their financial situation. The Spanish giants might have to sell their players for them to make a move this huge.

For the time being, Diaz will concentrate on assisting his team to the greatest extent possible. Liverpool are out of both the FA Cup and the Europa League. But they may still win the Premier League title to commemorate Jurgen Klopp’s departure in style this season.
