Amid Amorim snub, Liverpool could make a move for Arne Slot

In recent weeks, Sporting manager Ruben Amorim has been the main prospect to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, but recent reports via the Express have now reduced the odds on Arne Slot taking over on Merseyside.

Liverpool are looking for a new manager, with Jurgen Klopp poised to leave at the conclusion of the season. The Reds might turn to Feyenoord manager Arne Slot to find a successor for the German.

Amorim is “unlikely” to take charge of Liverpool. He is now in talks with West Ham about succeeding David Moyes, who is out of contract this summer. Rather than wait and see what happens, the Reds are getting their act together and moving on.

Arne Slot: A Pep Guardiola follower

Slot became manager of Feyenoord in the summer of 2021 and guided the club to the Eredivisie title last season. The 45-year-old then led Feyenoord to the Dutch Cup victory on Sunday, defeating NEC Nijmegen 1-0 in the final.

His high-octane attitude has already earned him parallels with City manager Pep Guardiola. During his first team meeting at Feyenoord, Slot showed clips of Guardiola’s Manchester City and Chelsea’s 2021 Champions League Final, explaining that the lack of chances, despite the attacking quality on display, was due to the diligence of both sides’ defensive runs.

The big achievements attached to the star manager

A brave choice for Liverpool

The 45-year-old is now on the verge of matching the record of Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag. All the hard work and record-breaking achievements sure do pay off eventually.

Arne Slot has earned the Rinus Michels Award for Best Trainer in the Premier League twice in a row during the previous two seasons. In the current season, Slot has very high chances of winning the word once again and this will be his third time.

Feyenoord is currently in second place in the Eredivisie standings, nine points behind PSV. With four games remaining, they could even emerge victorious. Slot’s team just won the KNVB last Sunday. His outstanding season puts him in a great position to match Erik Ten Hag’s triple victory record at the Rinus Michels Award.

Summarizing it all, it is safe to say that Slot is an undeniably skilled coach. His style of play would be enticing, and it would fit well with Liverpool’s existing roster. His concepts are not very different from what Klopp has used. Hence, he could be a good fit to fill Klopp’s shoes.
