Liverpool legend unleashes wrath on two Reds’ stars following Goodison no show

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher rightly critical of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah after Everton loss

Chances came begging as in any other game in our 2-0 loss to Everton. As has been the case in the last few games, Liverpool have been absolutely dreadful in front of goal, and at the centre of all those misses, stands Darwin Nunez. Mohamed Salah hasn’t been any great as well.

Club legend Jamie Carragher took time to speak of them both after the game at Goodison and here is what he had to say about Salah and Nunez via Sky Sports:

“The chance Nunez misses is unforgivable at this level. It’s not acceptable when you’re going for a title. I thought Liverpool were in control at the start of the second half and if they got one they’d get two. And then Mohamed Salah gave the ball away that led to the Everton corner. He’s looked a shadow of himself for a lot of this season especially since he’s come back from injury. He is Liverpool’s legend, superstar. But he’s been so far off it.”

In one of these instances, Nunez drilled a shot straight into Jordan Pickford who collected it as if it were a bag of chips. The far post was dying of starvation and yet Darwin decided to hurry into his shot and make a mess out of it.

It has been a tough few weeks for everyone associated with Liverpool, especially these two.

Shambles.

Salah, on the other hand, has not been the same player since his hamstring injury. It also appears that the player has lost a major chunk of his pace since coming back from the same issue. Mo, who is as clinical as anyone, is also making a habit of hurrying into his shots which is not good for Liverpool. Salah’s contributions to Liverpool over the years cannot be understated.

He has been a talismanic figure for the Reds, consistently delivering goals and assists. However, his recent performances have raised questions about his ability to maintain his high standards, especially when it matters most. We wanted Darwin to learn from The Egyptian King

, but it seems like it’s going the other way instead.

While Salah and Nunez have been underwhelming in recent matches, it’s not all doom and gloom for Liverpool’s attack. Players like Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister have shown promise and energy, injecting some much-needed dynamism into the team’s play. Their willingness to take on defenders and create chances has been a bright spot in an otherwise lacklustre attacking display.

His shooting ability for a striker is concerning, to say the least.

The fans’ frustration is palpable, as the recent drop in form feels like a departure from the club’s identity and the high standards set in previous seasons. The lack of goals and creativity in the final third has left supporters disillusioned and questioning the team’s ability to compete at the highest level.

As Klopp approaches the end of his tenure at Liverpool, there’s a collective desire among fans to see him lift one more trophy before he departs, as was always the case. However, with the title now more or less out of reach, the emphasis will be on rebuilding and regrouping for the challenges ahead.
