Liverpool run into stumbling block as documentary yet to be signed by a streaming service

Liverpool FC documentary yet to be signed by a streaming service

Liverpool FC’s documentary, currently in the works, hasn’t nailed down a streaming platform yet. Even though filming started in December, they’re still in talks with various platforms to secure exclusive rights, but nothing has yet been signed.

That’s as per ECHO. The impending departure of manager Jurgen Klopp meant more people would probably want to get a glimpse of the said documentary. While negotiations with Disney+ are in progress, nothing’s concrete so far. They’re aiming to drop the documentary in August 2024, in sync with the start of the new Premier League season.

Unlike Amazon’s ‘All or Nothing’ series, Liverpool’s documentary promises a different angle, focusing more on the club’s culture than behind-the-scenes drama. However, recent disappointments on the field have put a bit of a dampener on things. Despite winning the Carabao Cup, their exits from the FA Cup and Europa League, along with slipping in the Premier League title race, have tempered expectations.

Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of this season.

Failing to sign another first-choice soon?

But once they seal the deal with a streaming platform, Liverpool stands to make a tidy sum, with an expected eight-figure payday on the cards. This echoes Manchester City’s move, who recently sold their Treble winners documentary to Netflix, giving fans an up-close look at their journey to glory.

However, the Reds have only the Carabao Cup to show for, plus the recent string of poor results. It surely won’t put up a good display and we will most likely stand subject to a lot of memes online.

This season has pretty much acted as a filler and we will slowly know what the future holds for us in context to the long-term futures of a bunch of players coupled with how we tackle the post-Jurgen Klopp era. Irrespective of a good or a bad season, it would be an intriguing one for sure.

Arne Slot will take over from Jurgen Klopp at the end of this season.
