Mohamed Salah is set to stay at Liverpool next season
In a piece of good news for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah remains set to extend his stay on Merseyside beyond this season with the club expecting him to remain at the club next term.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic [subscription required], the 31-year-old winger has given the club no indication of wanting out. Despite his argument on the touchline with Jurgen Klopp against West Ham United, Salah continues to remain a key figure for the club. There’s absolutely no denying that.
While we are sure to get more clarity on that spat in the coming few weeks, it is important for the fanbase and the ones involved to put that behind them, and at the business end of the season, work towards the common goals and ensure a decent farewell for the outgoing boss.
Even though he has not been firing on all cylinders in the last few weeks, a tactical shift might work best for the player next season onwards. Maybe the current style of play has become too stagnant and lacks a sense of creativity which has derailed our campaign towards the end.
Salah himself also could do better than he has, but it is his fault that he’s spoiled us. Performing like an absolute boss week in and week out for most parts of the season, it is natural for our expectations from him to go up as well.
Still, Salah’s track record speaks for itself. With over 200 goals and nearly 90 assists in his Liverpool career, he’s been nothing short of sensational. It’s no wonder he’s been linked with big-money moves elsewhere, but with his commitment to the club, those rumours can be put to rest.
