Shamed former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys provided his baffling ill-informed pre-conceived notions about the next Liverpool head coach Arne Slot
Richard Keys compared next Liverpool head coach Arne Slot to Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag in an ill-informed rant. Keys falsely asserts that every Liverpool fan he converses with expresses disappointment regarding the appointment of the Feyenoord manager.
While many fans are indeed sceptical about the appointment due to their limited information about Slot, they are backing him. The only scrutiny that the decision faced arrived from the fringes of social media creating controversies to gain engagement.
The true Liverpool fanbase prefers not to associate with the disgraced commentator Keys, as his statement carries no weightage. Kopites rejected Keys for his history of racism and sexism, widely publicized and not tolerated within the fanbase. The 67-year-old allegedly cheated on his first wife with his current wife who happens to be his daughter’s best friend.
Writing in his blog (h/t Liverpool Echo), Keys compared Slot with Ten Hag despite knowing nothing about him. He wrote:
“I believe Liverpool are about to make the same mistakes that Utd did. Arne ten Slot. Really? Not for me. And I’m not alone. There isn’t a Liverpool fan that I’ve spoken to isn’t totally underwhelmed by the news ten Slot is going to replace Klopp. Ok. Let’s cut him some slack. I accept we don’t know. It could turn out to be an inspired appointment. But I’m not convinced. Why ten Slot?. I guarantee you we’ll hear all the same things they said about ten Hag when Liverpool finally unveil their man. What you won’t hear is an admission that he wasn’t first choice. Or that his record in Holland isn’t even as good as ten Hag’s was.”
Slot has earned a great reputation in the Netherlands with his impressive man management and tactical knowledge. Feyenoord has developed into a formidable club despite their restricted budget and compunction to sell key players every summer.
The 45-year-old managed to take AZ Alkmaar, his former club, to great heights by challenging Ajax in the 2019-20 season. During that season, Ten Hag led a formidable Ajax side before the Coronavirus outbreak forced the suspension of the season.

There are vast differences between Ten Hag and Slot and the only commonality is their physical feature, they are bald. People expect better assessments from those in Keys‘ position, but he has a history of dramatizing and lying. The BeIN Sports presenter has a habit of riling Liverpool fans with nonsensical takes and ill-informed rants.
