Jurgen Klopp replacement Arne Slot is keen on securing services of Nicolo Barella, as he seems fit for his new on-pitch strategies for Liverpool
According to Spanish publication Fichajes, upcoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot is keen on securing the services of Inter Milan’s star midfielder, Nicolo Barella, as he seems fit for the new manager’s future plans for Liverpool.
One of the greatest midfielders in the world, Barella has received accolades for his technical prowess, tenacity on the pitch, and midfield game management.
This move by Liverpool may be the final piece in the long-needed midfield makeover. As Thiago Alcantara is likely to leave, Barella will show up to take over a pivotal role in Arne Slot’s squad.
Liverpool’s interest in Barella is not new. Klopp, who is ready to depart from Anfield this summer, previously praised the Italian’s skill and ability to change the course of a game.
While Manchester City and Arsenal have also expressed interest in signing Barella, Liverpool’s longstanding affection for him may offer them an advantage over other teams.
Barella is right for Slot’s plans
The Feyenoord manager, who will take over for Jurgen Klopp at the end of the current campaign, usually plays in a 4-2-3-1 configuration, which is significantly different from Liverpool’s customary 4-3-3.
Due to his tactical adaptability, Barella could easily fit into Slot’s typical 4-2-3-1 style and potentially establish a potent midfield tandem with Alexis MacAllister.
Barella’s future at Inter is in doubt due to rumours of potential sales to help the team balance its books. Reports state that the asking price may range from €60 million to €80 million.
